Effect of ammonia fiber expansion (AFEX) pretreatment temperature on enzymatic hydrolysis monomeric sugar yields. All AFEX runs were kept at a constant moisture content (60% dry-weight basis), ammonia loading (1.0 g NH3 g-1 dry biomass) and residence time (5 min). Yields are in terms of sugar available in untreated dry biomass. Glu = glucose, Xyl = xylose, MTSY = maximum theoretical sugar yield.
