To determine the supramolecular structure of cellulose, the C4 region is fitted with a set of mathematical functions representing the signals originating from C4 carbons in cellulose Iα, cellulose I(α + β), cellulose Iβ, para-crystalline cellulose, C4 carbons in polymers residing at inaccessible fibril surfaces and C4 carbons in polymers residing at accessible fibril surfaces [27,31,32].
