Comparative fed-batch fermentations. High density cultures of S. stipitis NRRL Y-7124 parent (A) and hydrolyzate-tolerant Colony 5 (B) repitched from 6% glucan during xylose uptake into fresh 6% glucan hydrolyzate were then fed at 24 h with an equal volume of 12% glucan hydrolyzate.
