Growth profiles of strain MITXM-61 in the presence of common lignocellulose-derived inhibitors. The strain was grown in defined media containing 16 g L−1 glucose supplemented with different concentrations of lignin (A), furfural (B), 5-hydroxymethyl-2-furaldehyde (HMF) (C), vanillin (D), 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde (4-HB) (E), syringaldehyde (F), levulinic acid (G), formic acid (H), and acetic acid (I). Values and error bars represent the mean and the standard deviation of triplicate experiments.
