CBP fermentations of the high S/G Populus phenotype with additions of potential inhibitor p-hydroxybenzoic acid showed no significant effect on metabolic output. The compound was added to the culture medium in quantities that produced final concentrations close to onefold and tenfold the concentrations found in the low S/G cultures. Mean values and standard deviations are shown for triplicate fermentations
