Meristematic, cell expansion, transition, and mature zones are enriched in unique gene families. Average expression of selected gene families, based on the Mapman annotations, arranged into categories that are enriched in the meristematic (MsZ), cell expansion (CEZ), transition (TZ), and mature (MZ) zones of the internode. Mean expression is tabulated for MsZ, CEZ, TZ, MZ, and whole plant (WP) and the heat map is generated from the log₂ fold change across the four internode zones.
