Reducing sugar release from ground sorghum stover by the XynA and the XynA–XBP271 chimera. The natural lignocellulose substrate was treated with the parental xylanase (XynA), an equimolar mixture of XynA and XBP (XynA + XBP), or the XynA–XBP271chimera. The control was treated under the same conditions but without enzyme. The result shows total reducing sugar released in nanomoles. Triplicate assays were performed in 100 mM MOPS buffer (pH 6.5) at 40 °C for 15 h. Error bars show the mean ± sd
