Each pattern from the C4H::F5H fah1-2 sample was analyzed and separated into oriented (top, middle) and unoriented (bottom, middle) fractions. The intensities were then plotted as a function of spacing 1/day (roughly proportional to scattering angle) for the oriented (top right) and unoriented (bottom right) fractions. The oriented portion exhibited well defined (1 1 0)/(1 −1 0), (2 0 0), and (0 0 4) reflections characteristic of scattering from cellulose Iβ.
