  1. The fermentation was carried out with the cell density at OD550 of 0.2. Strain BuT-16 was grown in M9Y medium containing crude glycerol of 20 g/L for 40 h. The others were cultured on pure glycerol of 20 g/L for 24 h. The development course of producer strains for the production of n-butanol was shown in Additional file 1: Fig. S1.
