Time course of anaerobic batch fermentation on xylose. S. cerevisiae strains WR324T (expressing RsXIC1O-N337T mutant) and WR320 (expressing wild-type RsXI-C1O) were cultivated in the fermentation medium that contained 50 g/l xylose as the sole carbon source under anaerobic condition. Concentrations of xylose remaining in the medium (closed symbols) and ethanol produced during the fermentation (open symbols) at the indicated times were determined by HPLC. Error bars represent standard deviations of four independent experiments
