Proposed pathways of lignin degradation in Rhodococci. The genes followed by E.C. number of encoded enzymes of the key pathways were provided in red or blue color referring to the genes of R. opacus PD630 or R. jostii RHA1 (or R. jostii RHA1 vanA−), respectively. The numbers in the boxes, matched with the color of the boxes, were the level of protein abundance in four different samples: lysate samples of glucose fermentation (GL), secretome samples of glucose fermentation (GS), lysate samples of lignin fermentation (LL), and secretome samples of lignin fermentation (LS)
