The hollow symbols represent a high DOC fermentation, when DOC was kept over 40% by increasing the agitation mechanically. Triangles represent cell growth, diamonds represent gluconic acid production, and dots represent SCO accumulation. Experiments were done in a 2.5 L reactor, with 1.2 L of cultivation volume, 20 °C and 1 vvm gas aeration, and the cultures were held for ~ 150 h
