Proposed cultivation strategies for starch production in T. subcordiformis with diverse applications. The +N → −N strategy (a) comprised a +N (1 g L−1 KNO3) without NaHCO3 addition in the first stage and a dilution for −N with 1 g L−1 NaHCO3 addition in the second stage for short-term cultivation (2 days). The ±N strategy employed a simultaneous supply of 1 g L−1 KNO3 and 1 g L−1 NaHCO3 (b) or 5 g L−1 NaHCO3 (c) for long- or medium-term cultivation (8 or 4 days, respectively)
