Quantitative real-time PCR for the genes related to pyruvate metabolism in plastids. Pyruvate dehydrogenase complex (PDC), pyruvate carboxylase 2 (PYC2) and pyruvate, phosphate dikinase (PPDK) transcript levels in WT and transgenic strains. Their gene expression levels at 3, 5, and 7 days of subculture were analyzed by qRT-PCR. The expression levels were normalized based on their TATA-box binding protein (TBP) expression (internal reference). Error bars represent mean values from three independent experiments. Statistically significant differences were determined by Student’s t test (*p < 0.05)
