  1. Bdh activity assays were performed on whole cell extracts obtained from transformant cultures (µmol/min per mg crude extract). Each row represents activity assays performed in technical triplicates for every transformant. Five independent transformants were tested for each gene. Therefore, average specific activity has been calculated from 3 × 5 = 15 data points
