Transcriptional analysis of the mevalonate pathway. Quantitative real-time PCR of the genes controlling the mevalonate pathway in A. gossypii. A xylose-utilizing strain containing the overexpression of the XR-XDH-XK pathway was used. Total RNA was obtained from cultures grown for 48 h in MA2 media either with glucose or xylose as the only carbon source. Transcription levels of the genes were normalized using the A. gossypii UBC6 gene as a reference. The results are the means of two independent experiments performed in duplicate and are expressed as a ratio of the cDNA abundances of the target genes with respect to the UBC6 mRNA levels
