Within the same year—A control year (2010) or B drought year (2012)—proline, valine, alanine, and threonine contents were similar for ethanol and water extracted switchgrass hydrolysates. These amino acids were present in greater amounts in B unextracted drought-year switchgrass hydrolysates. The other amino acids showed similar trends. ‘Pre’ stands for samples that were extracted then AFEX-pretreated while ‘Post’ for samples that were AFEX-pretreated then extracted
