Functional analysis of cracs in transgenic yeast YB525. Cells expressing cracs1 and cracs2 were named YB525/pYES2-cracs1 and YB525/pYES2-cracs1, respectively. YB525 transformed with blank pYES2 vector was used as control strain. The fatty acid importation ability was determined using C1-BODIPY-C12 as analogues by fluoresce microplate reader (a) and confocal microscope (b). White and shadow column indicate the fluorescence intensity before and after C1-BODIPY-C12 was added. c Cells stained with Nile Red were observed with confocal microscope indicating intracellular lipid accumulation.
