Optimization of the medium composition for the efficient production of FAL. The two best-performing strains A C. glutamicum ΔfasR (pEKEx2-maqu2220) and B C. glutamicum ΔfasR cg2692TTG (pEKEx2-maqu2220) were cultivated in (1) NL-CgXII, (2) CgXII or (3) CgXII medium supplemented with 195 µM PCA. All media contained 20 g glucose L−1 as carbon source. Data represent means of 3 biological replicates with standard deviations
