Preincubation of Celluclast 1.5 L prior to Avicel degradation. A 90% Celluclast 1.5 L + 10% NZ-BG mixture was preincubated at 50 °C for 24 h in the presence of H₂O₂ (10 mM), AscA (10 mM), Cu(II)SO₄ (0.63 mM), and/or EDTA (6.3 mM). Following the preincubation, the saccharification reactions were initiated by adding 25% (w/w) Avicel to the preincubated cellulase cocktails, followed by incubation for 24 or 48 h under the same conditions as for the preincubation. The symbols * and *** indicate significant differences (p ≤ 0.05 and  p≤0.01, respectively) between no preincubation and the different preincubation conditions (by Student's t test).
