Following 8 h of C. beijerinckii 8052 growth in P2 medium, the fermentation broth was distributed into two groups. Each group was made up of 3 aliquots. One group was challenged with 2 g/L furfural (treatment) and the other was left unchallenged (control), followed by anaerobic incubation at 35°C for 60 h during which samples were collected every 12 h for analysis.
