Percent biomass (Miscanthus) weight reduction after 8 weeks of solid substrate cultures of fungal species on ground Miscanthus. Performance of the industrially important enzyme producer, Trichoderma reesei, is shaded differently. Error bars are standard errors (n = 3). In addition to 30 species isolated from Miscanthus and sugarcane, four well-studied fungi were tested: Phanerochaetae chrysosporium, Neurospora crassa, Postia placenta, and the aforementioned Trichoderma reesei.
