Synergy experiments of different chitinases. The reaction mixture (200 μL total volume) contained 100 μL of 2 mg/mL colloidal chitin, supplemented with 50 μL enzyme solution and/or, in control reactions, 50 μL of the reaction buffer, pH 5.0. The final concentration of each enzyme was 2.5 nmol/mL. The reaction mixtures were incubated at 60 °C for 30 min. The experiments labeled with “&” (solid lines) represent the amount of reducing sugar produced when the two enzymes act on the substrate together. The curves labeled with “+” (dashed lines) represent product levels calculated by adding product formation by each of the individual enzymes. 18A indicates SsChi18A, 18B indicates SsChi18B, 18C indicates SsChi18C, 19A indicates SsChi19A, and AA10 indicates SsLPMO10A
