  1. Samples were preincubated with various mental ions (10 mM) at pH 7.0 (Tris–HCl buffer) and 4 °C for 30 min. The remaining activity was measured with pNP-GlcNAc at pH 7.0 (Tris–HCl buffer) and 40 °C for 10 min. Activity in the absence of any additives was taken as 100%
