Cell growth, sugar consumption, and ethanol production of xylose-utilization strains 8b, 8b-S8, and 8b-S38 in mixed sugars of RMG2X10 (a, b) and RMG2X15 (c, d). Strains were cultured in 40 mL RMGX in 50-mL shake flasks at 100 rpm and 30 °C. Spectinomycin at a final concentration of 50 μg/mL was added for recombinant strains. Three replicates were performed for each experiment. RMG2X10 and RMG2X15 represented RM media containing different concentrations of mixed sugars of glucose and xylose.
