  1. Fermentations were performed in batch under anaerobic conditions using corn stover hydrolysate diluted to a final concentration of 12 mM furfural (1.2 g/L). Glucose and xylose were supplemented at 40 g/L each and yeast nitrogen base was added as a nitrogen source.
