Enzyme activity against milled sugarcane bagasse. The bagasse was treated with equal molar concentrations of the parental xylanase (XynA), or a mixture of XynA and XBP (XynA + XBP), or the chimeras (2091A or 2621B). The control was treated under the same conditions but without enzyme. The result shows total reducing sugar release in micromoles. Triplicate assays were performed in 50 mM phosphate buffer (pH 6.0) at 37°C for 2 h (see experimental procedures for further details).
