AFEX increases the extractability (a) and digestibility (b) of CS. Here, a extractability is measured by total sugar intensity from all extracts from sequential extractions. On the top is the untreated CS and in the bottom is the AFEX-CS. The Y-axis shows the ratio of total sugar intensity versus g of biomass in thousands (*1000).
