The cellular electron demand (rD) was calculated from the electron demand for carbon fixation (rC) and nitrogen assimilation (rnitrate). The electron supply rate (rO,gross) is derived from the sum of rO and rResp. The alternative electron flux (rAEF) is calculated by subtracting rO,gross from the fluorescence-based electron flux (derived from rF)
